Illusion is a magazine that showcases artists in the LGBT+ community. The target audience for this magazine is young adults, art students, and LGBT+ individuals looking for artistic inspiration and positive role models with creative careers. I wanted to create this art magazine to show young adults that art can be more than just a hobby and that everyone deserves to be accepted regardless of gender or sexual orientation.
This magazine edition features a photo gallery on the front and back covers, two full-length articles and one artist interview spread; each article has a unique layout that represents the style of each artist.  The cover images were submitted by an up-in-coming photography student to highlight the idea that even younger artists have the potential to create amazing work. The first article features Mickalene Thomas, a mixed-media painter, and utilizes various patterns and bright colors to mimic her paintings. The second article features Marcos Chin, a digital illustrator that focuses a different characters designed with flat color and geometric shapes. The last article features "Left at London" (Nat Puff), a young singer / songwriter, and uses visual elements from her album covers.
